Regain37 launches Health Care on wheels
Regain37 has launched a project, Smart Health Space and ZimbosAbantu Health care on wheels aiming to cater for people who travel long distances to reach nearby clinics and hospitals.
Speaking in an interview with TechMag Tv, Regain37 Chief Executive Officer,(CEO), Tawanda. J Mushawedu, said the project aims at making use of telemedicine to cut distance to those who travel long to reach clinics.
“What we have here is a concept of making use of telemedicine so that we cut on the distance women and children travel from their homestead to local clinics”
To spearheard the project, ZimbosAbantu Health care is working with Econet’s subsidiary, Maisha Medic were patients get access to many doctors for different ailments.
The Regain37 CEO further said the mobile clinic has a telecentre were patients are called in for examinations.
“We have entered a memorandum of understanding with Maisha Medic and we have a telecentre for doctors were patients are called in”
He further said after examination, the signs and symptoms are captured into the electronic health records platform and doctors from Maisha Medic could access it from anywhere and do the virtual consultation with the patients.
“Once the patient is talked to and if vital signs are taken for the patients, the records are then captured into the electronic health records platform and doctors sitting anywhere will then have access to the records”
Nurses working in the mobile clinic have access to these doctors through the mobile centre which uses internet powered by the solar system and wind mill energy installed on top of the van.
The idea of health care on wheels comes after a research that 40 percent of people travel more than 5 kilometers to reach the nearest clinic or hospital.
Regain 37 is a social enterprise, the commercial arm of Zimbabwe Smart Sustainable Cities Initiative.
It was founded in 2016 being spear headed by a group of young and patriotic Zimbabweans working with international partners, both locally based and those based in the diaspora, with the desire to make their contribution to the economic revival of Zimbabwe.
